Save the Date! Our Annual Artist Talk is back with an exciting twist!
Join us on Friday August 2nd at the Barn at the Southport General Store. We will be having a free wine tasting from 4-5:30pm along with chef prepared snacks and an outdoor gallery walk to meet the artists and view their original works! From 5:30-7:30pm we will gather in the Barn to hear the artists tell their stories. We will hear from Armstrong Pottery, photographer Vincente Spadafora, painter Grant Auber, illustrator & ceramic artist Eliza Goodwin!
Emily Armstrong is a ceramic artist who moved to Portland Maine in 2011 and attended the Maine College of Art where her love for all things clay and illustration have grown. In 2015 she received her Bachelors in Ceramics and started Armstrong Pottery. Emily Armstrong is currently working as a resident artist and Clay Center Manager at Running With Scissors in Portland Maine and teaches ceramics part time in Biddeford, ME. Emily has recently accepted the position of Resident Artist at Watershed Center for the Ceramics Arts as the next Salad Days Artist!
Vince Spadafora is a self taught photographer & visual artist living and working in rural coastal Maine. With the addition of weaving and embroidery techniques, his photographic practice explores the layered duality of both our natural and built landscapes.
Eliza Goodwin is our second summer intern working in collaboration with the Barn & AE Ceramics in East Boothbay! She is an illustrator and ceramic artist studying at RISD and she is about to begin painting a mural for us! Summers spent hiking and canoeing in Maine and out west have deeply influence her art, as she aims to inspire a love for nature in others too.
Grant Auber is an up-and-coming artist armed with a BFA in graphic design from Northeastern University. His creative journey extends beyond traditional bounds, incorporating a rich background in sneaker and apparel design. Utilizing acrylic and house paint, Grant orchestrates dynamic canvases that echo the fusion of chaos and control speaking to his personal brand titled “Abstrakt Order.”
Come mingle, sip, and get inspired at this unique event. This is truly a special community experience that we look forward to again and again. The preservation of traditional crafts is an honorable pursuit that the Barn is dedicated to supporting. This event is free and open to the public. We can't wait to see you there!
