We are partnering with the Cape Newagen Alpaca Farm to offer this special private tour of the alpaca paddocks on Thursdays at noon with lunch catered by the Southport General Store! Only twelve spaces per session. Book online to enjoy some time on the farm.
Each participant will choose a delicious sandwich from the General Store menu. You may opt to bring your own lunch as well, but given the choice of sandwiches you might want to eat where the locals do!
We enjoy sitting on our back porch in view of the alpacas and chickens with their funny little antics, we thought you would too! We'll start with lunch outside under our porch or on our picnic table - you'll be in view of all our alpacas! Bring your refillable water bottles.
After lunch we will provide you with an introductory lesson about alpacas/alpaca safety and you will learn why we raise them for their soft cashmere-like fiber. Next, you’ll be chaperoned into one of our paddocks with some alpaca treats to feed our alpacas an afternoon alpaca snack. Bring your cameras! You will experience being with our alpacas in their natural setting, within our majestic mid-coast woodland paddock, complete with individual alpaca personalities to greet you.
You’ll end our tour in our gift shop/studio and see some of the hand tools we use to create items from our alpacas and shop for a unique gift if you choose.
Next, if you have time, The Southport Memorial Library is right next door! Head on upstairs to the year round book sale. Find a gem for a few bucks.
Lastly, you are treated to a homemade cookie at the General Store (remember to say yes to the cookie when you book!). Head to the General Store, up Route 27, hand in your ticket and grab your cookie. You might want to wind down at our local beach exploring the rocks and reefs just down Beach Rd. from the General Store.
